Alexis McAdams Early Life and Background
Alexis McAdams grew up in the Chicago area. Although she has become a familiar television journalist, she has kept many details about her childhood and family away from the public spotlight.
Her connection to Illinois continued into her college years. McAdams attended Illinois State University, where she pursued an education directly related to the career she would later build.
Rather than beginning at a national network immediately, she developed her skills through local television journalism. That path allowed her to gain experience interviewing people, reporting from active scenes, covering breaking stories, and presenting information to viewers under tight deadlines.
Her Midwest background also played an important role during the early stages of her career, with reporting jobs taking her through Rockford, Indianapolis, and Chicago.
Alexis McAdams Education
McAdams graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
Her education provided a foundation for a career that would become heavily focused on field reporting. Broadcast journalism involves much more than appearing in front of a television camera. Reporters must research stories, verify information, interview sources, understand developing events, and communicate complicated situations clearly.
McAdams later returned to the Chicago television market as a professional reporter, making her education in Illinois part of a broader career closely connected with the region.
How Alexis McAdams Started Her Journalism Career
Before becoming a national correspondent, Alexis McAdams worked in local television news. She has said that her earlier career included work as a reporter and anchor in Rockford, Illinois, followed by positions in Indianapolis and Chicago.
Those local markets gave her experience covering stories affecting individual communities while also preparing her for larger breaking-news assignments.
Her move to Indianapolis became particularly important because it placed her at the center of a criminal investigation that received nationwide attention.
Alexis McAdams Career in Indianapolis
McAdams worked as a general assignment reporter for WXIN/WTTV in Indianapolis, Indiana.
During this period, one of her most notable assignments involved the Delphi murder case concerning the deaths of Abby Williams and Libby German. McAdams served as a lead reporter on the case, conducting interviews and following developments in the investigation.
The Delphi case attracted widespread national attention, giving McAdams experience covering a complicated and highly sensitive crime story over an extended period.
That type of assignment requires more than simply reporting new developments. Journalists must follow investigators, court developments, community reactions, and official statements while carefully distinguishing confirmed information from speculation.
Her work in Indianapolis helped establish crime and breaking-news reporting as major parts of her professional background.
Alexis McAdams at ABC 7 Chicago
In 2018, Alexis McAdams joined WLS-TV, the ABC-owned television station in Chicago.
Working in one of America’s largest media markets represented another major step forward in her career. At WLS-TV, she covered Chicago’s crime beat while also reporting on important breaking stories throughout the Midwest.
Her assignments included natural disasters, mass shootings, and major court cases. She also covered the protests in Chicago following the death of George Floyd in 2020.
McAdams additionally reported on developments surrounding singer R. Kelly’s criminal cases. Covering major legal proceedings and breaking crime stories further strengthened the type of reporting experience that would later become useful at a national news network.
After several years at WLS-TV, another career opportunity arrived.
Alexis McAdams Fox News Career
Fox News Channel announced in October 2021 that Alexis McAdams was joining the network as a New York-based correspondent.
Moving from local television to a national network significantly expanded the geographical range of her assignments. Instead of primarily covering one city or region, McAdams began traveling to different locations depending on where major stories were developing.
Shortly after joining the network, she covered the Kyle Rittenhouse trial in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She reported from outside the Kenosha County Courthouse when the verdict was announced and later interviewed Rittenhouse’s mother, Wendy Rittenhouse.
Her subsequent Fox News assignments have included stories involving crime, politics, demonstrations, elections, and major breaking events.
As of 2026, Fox News continues to identify McAdams as one of its correspondents based in New York City.

Politics later became another major component of her assignments.
During the 2024 presidential election cycle, McAdams traveled around the country covering issues affecting American voters and reporting from campaign events. She provided live updates during the New Hampshire primary and covered developments in battleground states.
One of her most significant assignments came in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024. McAdams was reporting from the rally where Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt. She later discussed the experience of reporting during the rapidly developing situation.

Alexis McAdams Age and Birthday
Alexis McAdams’ exact date of birth is not clearly established in reliable public biographical information.
Various biography websites have published ages and birth dates for McAdams, but those details should be treated carefully when they are not supported by McAdams herself, her employer, or another authoritative source.
What is publicly documented is her educational and professional timeline. Illinois State University identifies McAdams as a member of its class of 2013.
Without reliable confirmation of her exact birthday, stating a specific Alexis McAdams age as fact could be misleading.
Is Alexis McAdams Married?
Alexis McAdams keeps her personal relationships largely separate from her professional career.
Reliable public information does not clearly establish that she is married or identify a husband. Online biography pages sometimes make claims about the relationships of television personalities, but those claims are not always based on direct or authoritative information.
McAdams’ public profile instead focuses heavily on her journalism, reporting assignments, travel, and television work.
Unless she publicly confirms additional details about her relationship status, information concerning an Alexis McAdams husband or marriage should be considered private or unverified.
Alexis McAdams Family and Personal Life
Compared with her professional career, relatively little verified information is publicly available about Alexis McAdams’ family.
She has shared some lighter details about herself in interviews. For example, she has spoken about growing up around Chicago and her appreciation for both Chicago and New York City.
Her career also involves considerable travel because national correspondents can be sent wherever an important story develops.
Despite having a public-facing profession, McAdams appears to maintain a distinction between her work as a journalist and many aspects of her private life.
Alexis McAdams Salary and Net Worth
There is no authoritative public figure confirming Alexis McAdams’ exact Fox News salary or personal net worth.
Private media companies generally do not publish individual employment contracts or salaries for every correspondent. As a result, figures presented online as Alexis McAdams’ salary or net worth are usually estimates rather than confirmed financial disclosures.
Her career progression does provide a clearer picture of her professional success. She moved through local reporting positions in Rockford and Indianapolis, worked in the major Chicago television market, and eventually became a national correspondent based in New York.
However, professional success alone cannot be used to calculate someone’s personal wealth accurately.
For that reason, a specific Alexis McAdams net worth figure should not be presented as established fact without reliable financial documentation.
Alexis McAdams Social Media Presence
Like many television journalists, Alexis McAdams maintains a public presence that allows viewers to follow her professional work and reporting assignments.
Her public-facing content frequently relates to journalism, locations she visits for assignments, breaking stories, and moments connected with her work as a correspondent.
Social media has become particularly useful for field journalists because news develops much faster than traditional television schedules. It can provide audiences with additional updates while reporters continue gathering information for larger broadcasts.
